Sales & Marketing
Acquisitions
The Acquisitions department teaches an individual how a business works, how to formulate a budget and how to decrease overhead costs. Along with the office and computer skills, this department offers the experience to deal with high level business executives in a professional setting. We’ll look for you at our next Luau!
Habilitat’s acquisitions department functions within the enterprise entity. Through acquisitions, we are able to help the organization save on the overall operation costs of the facility. This is as important as fundraising because it allows us to allocate more funds toward growth and education. Through acquisitions, we have been able to incorporate a new computer network for the facility, as well as save on janitorial supplies, shipping rates, administration supplies, facility furniture, audio-visual equipment, exercise equipment, kitchen appliances, and educational, as well as recreational, excursions for the residents. Acquisitions works to enable Habilitat to successfully handle its multiple projects while teaching our residents the valuable lessons of budgeting for, and coordinating, large events and projects. Training is provided that helps residents to make the transition from Habilitat into the business world successfully. This department is also responsible for the acquiring the hundreds of items featured in the live and silent auction at our Annual Luau.
The team as whole has done many projects throughout the years such as Christmas trees, family expos, telethons, broadcast live from local stations, car washes, rodeos, luaus, etc. The fundraising department also handles the advertising for our Annual Luau, Auction and Benefit Concert.
Fundraising
The Fundraising department also helps schools and groups all over the island raise money for their organization through our Christmas tree project. We offer schools the opportunity to make money, while we do the work. Our fundraising representatives can be found on the phones or doing a “kick-off” assembly at your local school interacting and motivating the children. These opportunities open a myriad of doors to find gainful employment in the future. Click here to find out how to help your school or group make money.
Culinary
Not only do they learn the day to day routines of preparing food; they also learn how to meet the requirements of our residents who have special dietary needs.
The Habilitat food service/catering department provides our residents with on-the-job training in the culinary arts, in particular the food preparation area. Acquiring the discipline, determination, and drive to feed over 100 hungry mouths three times a day every day prepares the residents for gainful employment once they graduate from our program.
They receive guidance and training on a regular basis from a licensed dietitian. The knowledge, drive, and motivation acquired by the residents while working in the kitchen help them to help their community. This department has produced several talented island chefs. Habilitat has developed one of the most comprehensive, diverse, and commercially viable vocational training programs anywhere. Our businesses are fully functioning entities that actually support the organization.
Medical
Residents who train in this department work under the directs supervision of a registered nurse. Residents are trained in medical administration, basic first aid and medical documentation. They also perform tasks less specific to medical settings, such as answering telephones, greeting patients, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, and handling billing and bookkeeping.
